From the Editor of DanielMcCree.Org:
December 31, 2008
As we round out the year of 2008, I want to take a moment to express our sincerest thank you to all of our visitors and supporters. Your contributions have made DanielMcCree.Org the place it is today.
Over the past year, the foundation's mission has been to continue with the causes that Daniel held so dear to his heart.
In June, we acquired BellevillePride.com, and established an online presence for the very first Pride Celebration in Southern Illinois. In that same month, MCCGSL purchased the property at 1919 S. Broadway in the Soulard Neighborhood, and began renovation of the 30,000sq ft facility to house the church offices, and soon worship space, and the physical location of The Hope and Help Center.
In September, we began working with MCCGSL in the development of The Hope and Help Center online, (www.hopeandhelpcenter.org), which serves the entire region with information and resources that are available in our area. These topic include everything from Housing, Employment, Health & HIV info, as well as Spritual Guidance, and referral services. The Hope and Help Center is an outreach of MCC of Greater St. Louis, and was funded in part by the Missouri Foundation for Health. DanielMcCree.org continues to maintain and develop services through this ministry.
December also brought several new developments, including the expansion of the BellevillePride brand, and the observance of World AIDS Day 2008. Daniel McCree had a panel on the Heartsong Retreat Quilt, which was presented to the "Names Project", on behalf of MCCGSL's Ezekiel Project. Daniel was also actively remembered at the Church-wide event, in October; as well as observances at MCCGSL on Nov 30th, Christ Church Cathederal and Bethany Place of Belleville, on December 1st.
As we approach the new year, we are excited for many new things we have upcoming in 2009.
With the anticipated completion of the new church facility, in Spring;, and Belleville's 2nd Annual Pride Event, will take place in JUNE. We have had only intial contact with SWIC, regarding art exhibits, but we are likely to further discussions in 2009.
Each of you have become part of the "D-Vine", and I encourage each of you to not only share our website with others, but to consider ways you may support our mission, through your own work within our community at large. Over the past year, I have been amazed at the feedback we have received from visitors around the globe, who continue to enjoy and be influenced by the creative works of our dearest friend Daniel. It has been an honor to be a part of the Vine, and I look forward to the coming year. Our December & Year-End Site reports will be published in the next few days, be sure to check them out!
Sincerely,
Colby Kluthe, editor- DanielMcCree.org
