December 2009 Newsletter

December 1, 2009
A letter from the Editor:
As we draw to a close with the year of 2009, we have spent much time in reflection of the changes we have each undergone over the past year, and also come to reflect on the fact that nearly two and half years ago, our lives would take a sharp turn in another direction.
For the Daniel McCree Foundation, 2009 was a year of considerable progress, having unveiled two new art galleries of original works, our work with The Hope and Help Center, has been able to offer useful information a resources regarding Health & HIV, as well as referrall services for utility, rent & other assistance available throughout our region.
By summer of 2009, we reached perhaps the pinnacle of the year, with our sponsorship and hosting of Belleville's 2nd Pride Event (Metro East Pride), and made further steps towards leadership in 2010. I am proud to serve as the Vice President of Metro East Pride for the 2010 term, which will expire in June of 2010.
On September 11, 2009, the Daniel McCree Foundation was registered as an Illinois Charitable Trust, with the further goal of becoming a fully tax-exempt 501c(3) Non- Profit in 2010. In this regard we have secured three Executive Board Members, including Daniel's Mother
Kayla Kistner, of Rosewood Heights, IL and long time supporter James Ferguson of St. louis. Members at large include Ms. Tess Farnham, of St. Louis, who will also serve as an officer in 2010.
The primary focus of our Board of Directors, will be to ensure the renewal of the domain annually, the Preservation of our Art Collection, and authorization of any and all reproductions on behalf of the foundation. The Board will also direct activities, fundraising events, and direction in which those funds should be utilized. Several concepts have come to light, including an Art Scholarship for a student in Sparta, IL.
On December 1st, 2009 The Daniel McCree Foundation, in conjunction with Metro East Pride, made a presentation to Bethany Place of Belleville, and donated a rare peice of Daniel's Artwork which was replicated for permanant display on the walls of the Bethany Place Facility. This was an honor to present to Angela Barnes, Executive Director, as well as to have many Family & friends in attendance; including Daniels Mother, Kayla, and Daniel's younger brother Stephen Farris. It was both an honor and privledge to meet Stephen for the first time, and look forward to future events where we may again connect.
We do still have a few peices of Artwork to bring out before the end of the year, so keep an eye out for it, We will add it to the JUPITER DROPS Gallery, and will also publish the Site Reports
reflecting the traffic data throughout 2009.
Sincerely,

Updated Art Gallery

Recently the Art Gallery was refreshed, and few old peices brought back out.

As you visit, you will notice we have updated quite a bit over the past few weeks,

as you can image, there is much to go, with some pages that have not really changed

in more than 2 years. Primarily formerly featured video selections, and the individual Art Gallery pages.

In more important news, on September 11th, 2009, the Daniel McCree Foundation was

registered with the state of Illinois as a Charitable Trust. Our goal over the next few months is to name a Board of Directors, and recieve our tax exempt status as a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Foundation.

We would like to hear from you if you would be interested in serving as a board member.

General duties would include meeting between 2 and 4 times a year. You do not need to live in the St. Louis area to serve. Some Local Board members have already been selected. However we would encourage anyone who feels compelled to do so, please contact us. editor@danielmccree.org

July 2009 Newsletter

www.DanielMcCree.Org

A Note from the Editor:

The month of July is always a spiritual marker at DanielMcCree.Org, as we reflect on the year past, and look towards what we may do in our community in the year ahead. For many of us, the month brings much anticipation, reflection, and down-right anxiety.

We have not yet published the SITE REPORTS, for the month, but I am happy to report that as of today, the Gallery has received 764 Visitors, and more than 1500 page views, in the month of JULY ALONE. As I began to think about the purpose of our development of Daniels online Art Gallery, I recently looked into how many visitors we have received in the past 2 years. (Site launch was July 29, 2007) And amazingly, since we began, we have shared the spirit of Daniel McCree with more than 6,500 unique visitors, from around the world. Our mission has remained unchanged since our sites launch~

"The mission of DanielMcCree.Org is to share with the world,
the creative works and spirit of Daniel McCree,
foster a dialogue for those who were moved by his life, while promoting the 7 Arts of Power: Literature ,Performing Art,Visual Art,Design Art,
Decorative Art, Technological Art and Spirituality"

I am proud to report, we have made great strides in this endeavor. Coming in AUGUST, we will be working with MCC of Greater St. Louis, to purchase Daniel a commemorative brick "Paver" or "Legacy Tile", which will be added to the entryway of the new church facility, and soon to be completed Chapel, at MCCGSL.

Anyone that would like to donate funds towards this effort are encouraged to do so. Contact me directly for instructions on how to donate~ editor@DanielMcCree.Org

$50- is the need for a Legacy Brick ( Main Entrance Paver)
$100 - is the need for a Legacy Tile (Chapel Wall location)

Donations must be recieved prior to August 1st, and may be made online using any Debit/Credit card or electronic check. All donations are gladly accepted.

Your help is needed to obtain both items in the memory of Daniel McCree, due to the recent expenditures of the foundation at Metro East Pride, we will only be able to secure a Legacy Brick without any additional funding.

Finally, if you have not managed to visit our newest Gallery Exhibit "Jupiter Drops", we invite you to visit, and enjoy several new peices we have added to our collection of original works.

We wish to take a moment to thank all of our visitors, and regular readers for all the support you have given us over the past two years. Together with your help, we have made a true Legacy for our dear friend Daniel, and continued towards the causes he held dear to his heart. Again, we could not have done it without the support of each of you! See you along the path...

Some Reflections this July

www.DanielMcCree.Org

Some Reflections this July~

I think what amazes me the most about the experience of knowing Daniel, was simply the complexity it would all take on. I thank God each day, that the spirit truly knocked me on my ass when I met Daniel, and it told me very clearly "Learn Everything you Can". And God Blessed it~ I DID.

I learned very quickly that whatever Daniel said, was intended on more than a single level. That was Daniel. Nearly 2 years later, I find he has really layed so many things before me, which have yet to be discovered. Soon after we met, I was enlisted to build his Myspace Page, and together we sat and created it. I dont often re-visit his myspace page, but perhaps every few months. But what I do remember, is that the plain text of the page, was what he himself had put there long before we met. "True Bees, with Wings and Balls" for example~ Thats who he wanted to meet.

Tonite, the spirit lead me to visit his page, and what jumped out at me~ was his favorite Movie.
"What Dreams May Come" released in 1998. I have never heard of this movie before, but again, I had to "look it up" as he often directed his online friends to do. Daniel was a Directive Being... it was that simple.
So I looked it up~ and not only does it offer such amazing insight into the life experience and spiritual expressionism that is Daniel McCree, but reminds me once again, Daniel seemed to have a story to tell, and a spiritually uplifting way of doing it. I certainly miss him, but with that being said, I also know he has found ways like this movie to make sure that just as he said, "I will have a new number soon, so we can stay in touch" or something very close to that.
Blessings are everywhere if you listen and look for them. So are the spirits of those we love.

...And I cant WAIT to see the whole movie!

June 2009 Newsletter - DanielMcCree.Org

www.DanielMcCree.Org

A note from the editor:

Wow what a month it has been for the Foundation! Its difficult to know where to begin. Perhaps a first mention should be our participation in Metro East Pride in Belleville on June 20th. DanielMcCree.org was a proud event sponsor, and glad to have exhibited Daniel's artwork before the estimated 2,000 visitors for the event.

Pictured above, we were proud to present DOUG PRICE, a Bethany Place volunteer, with one of only two authorized reproductions of Daniels Artwork. Mr. Doug Price, and Daniel remained very close and worked as colegues in the arena of literary arts.

June 21st, Marked the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, and first Worship Service held at 1919 South Broadway, with Daniel's church family at MCCGSL. As you may recall, Daniel was commemorated on the slab of the sanctuary, prior to its completion, and I must say his spirit clearly resides in the new building, complete with the baby blue ceiling. If you haven't attended a sunday worship at MCC, it is certain to replenish your spirit.

New Developments in the near future~ We have begun our second phase of preserving original works, and are proud to anounce we will be offering new artwork exhibits throughout the next year, with a special dedication exhibit in about a month.

We are also in the beginning stages of partnership with the St. Louis LGBT Community Center to develop a special Art Exhibit, as the monthly featured artist. We are tentatively anticipating this exhibit will be in August 2009.

The justinePETERSEN Staff Tour, of the justBIZ facility (EMERSON PARK METRO STATION)

A note from the editor:

The past month has brought many changes, and challenges. If you are among our readers that have followed the progress of MCCGSL as we prepare "a place to call home", you have witnessed a few miracles along the way. With a loan reduction of more than 400K, and a further delay and shortfall of an additional 300K. This had put the construction at 1919 S. Broadway on hold temporarily while God planed a new direction for us. Alas, the table has been set, and overflows with bread for our journey.

Pictured above, is the staff of justinePETERSEN on our recent tour of the justBIZ location. As you know, I beleive this place at the Emerson Park Metro station, is very much a place Daniel would have used on a regular basis, offering computers and internet access and more. It has been an honor to be the full-time staff here, and think of Daniel every time I see a train pass. I intend to display some of Daniel's Artwork at justBIZ, as soon as I can decide which peice will fit in best.

Also new in March 2009, The Daniel McCree Art Gallery has partnered with MYSLART.org to offer some original works to the online consortium of local artists. We are proud to announce that Daniel has his own Gallery at www.MySLART.org . We are currently working on some site renovations that will feature prominently this collection, and the MySLART collection. Currently you will find the Gallery under "CHARITY ORGANIZATIONS" http://danielmccree.org/charity.aspx

Spiritual Expression thru Art ~ your invited!

March 25 and April 1 from 5:30 - 9:00pm. @ 1919 S. Broadway

http://www.hopeandhelpcenter.org/
This year we are inviting you to participate in the creation of our Good Friday service. The evening will be a night of reflection and contemplation that will allow us to worship through the experience of art. The most important piece is what we need from each of you.

You are invited to reflect on the events that surrounded Jesus' death as an inspiration to share their artistic gifts. Some themes that you might consider are faith, grief, loss, anxious anticipation and unconditional love.

You are encouraged to use a wide range of materials from wood and nails to canvas and paints to create your piece. With your participation we hope to envision, explore, and express the Passion of Christ.
So now what:
Think outside the box and create an expressive piece of art to be displayed in the Good Friday Gallery.
There will be two work nights at 1919 S. Broadway on

March 25 and April 1 from 5:30 - 9:00pm.

We will provide space and some art supplies. Please sign up if you plan to attend the work night so that we can provide enough materials for everyone.

Sign-up sheets are available at the Welcome Center or you can email katie.hotze@mccgsl.org .
All artwork should be turned in by Sunday April 5.

February 2009 Newsletter~ DanielMcCree.Org

www.DanielMcCree.Org

A note from the editor:

There have been a number of events lately that conjour up memories of those beautiful days with Daniel... Mardi Gras, being one of them, as Daniel was a resident of New Orleans around 2001. I have also begun working at the justBIZ venture, which I beleive would have been a favorite hangout for Daniel, had it been available in those days.

"The 2-19 Miracle"

Daniel and I spent a lot of time talking about spirtuality, and I remember he told me things that lead me to beleive that not only could i find miracles, but that if i looked for it, i could find him intertwined in my life. "If things work out, we will still be friends" he said. Well, I think its time to tell the story of 2-19. Also the title of a Tom Waits song, Daniel insisted the song be included in this site developement, and has since then continuously made the 2-19 very conspicuous. When JP moved to its new midtown building, we had replaced all the windows but one, that had been misordered. On that last boarded-up window, the number 219. I also buy my daily coffee at Park ave Coffee, located at 1919 park. (and it always totals $2.19). MCCGSL purchased the facility at 1919 Broadway, and also had a significant development in financing recently, on 2-19-09, wheras the loan amount was reduced, bringing our monthly payment down nearly $2000/month. So I must admit, that I tend to notice the 2-19 quite often.

Much stress has surrounded my move to the justBIZ location (Emerson park metrolink station), and I have questioned, if I am supposed to be there, or how long it may last. But I will tell you that in my first three or four visits to the site, when i pulled into the parking lot, I would invariably park behind a car with the license plate "DANNY BOY", Illinois plate. Which I must only take as a simple way of knowing im on the right path. If you live in the St. Louis area, I invite you to stop by justBIZ. I am working towards having some of Daniels work exhibited on the site. (most likely very soon) I will be sure to send out an alert when that occurs.

Thanks to everyone for your ongoing support of DanielMcCree.Org!

Sincerely,

Colby Kluthe, editor

Featured Artwork for February!

www.DanielMcCree.Org

We have dug out some original artwork to feature for the month of February. I remember somewhat, the story that goes with this piece. Daniel became very sick in 2003, with HIV, and as he told it, he nearly died at that point, but upon revival at the Hospital he was staying in, he told me this was his first painting, and that it was derived from a dream, he had and represents some actual places in his life. (places he lived).... It seems as if he attributed the small house in the bottom left as his grandmothers. However, I could be innacurate on that.

We are glad to present it, and "call it out" for this month's feature.

January 2009 Newsletter - DanielMcCree.org

www.DanielMcCree.Org

January 31, 2009

A note from the Editor:

WE NEED A VOLUNTEER! As we participate in the Metro-East Pride event, we will be instrumental in shaping the 2009 Festival.
We are Actively seeking someone to represent the Daniel McCree Foundation, as a comittee member of Metro-East Pride. This entails representation at meetings held in Belleville, about once a month. Estimated time requirement: 2 hours/month @ Club Escapade (Belleville)

If you wish to offer your presence in honor of Daniel~ let us know~ editor@DanielMcCree.Org

January has been a very busy month, with several new developments. Perhaps most importantly is our partnership with the Metro-East Pride Committee, who will be organizing the 2009 Pride Event, in Belleville, IL. As you may know, DanielMcCree ORG has ownership of the domains BellevillePride.com & BellevillePride.org. We are proud sponsors of the Pride events in Southern Illiniois. 2009 will mark the 2nd annual event.

The Hope and Help Center will be hosting a rescheduled "Employment/Resume Workshop" on Feb 16th & 18th, this free event it designed to assist anyone who is seeking employment, or wishes to refresh job-seeking skills. The workshops will be held at 1919 S. Broadway, 63104 in Soulard (the new facility of MCCGSL)
Anyone that wishes to participate RSVP info@hopeandhelpcenter.org

On a more personal note, I consistently speak of how "active" the spirit of Daniel has been in my life (really since the day we met), and my firm belief that he continues to influence it to this very day-- Daniel taught me the importance of "looking beyond" the surface of things to find sometime profound meanings in simple things~ And sometimest they stare at you with Clear Statement.

The latest Chapter, I was asked by my job (located on Mccree ave in '07) asked me to accept a new position opening a Business Resource Center @ Emerson Park Metrolink! and... it will be a place to "use the internet" and make copies n such. NOW---4 those of U who Knew Daniel.... YOU KNOW-- that would be a place he would frequent... in fact would have cut his almost daily train routine in half!.... as he used to travel to Coffee Cartel, to do just that...
So I heard Daniels voice immediately tell me what to do.... YES, ill take the challenge of opening a store at a metrolink station in East St. Louis! without question.... I know this is Danny workin his thing... at any rate, life does not come without challenges. In fact it seems to be that the only way I will see this to fruition is to "let go" of it... and just do the best I can.
"ACUNA MATATA" and Daniel Says. (see video)

Some things are controlled by GOD, which I have come understand is all that is, beyond what is here. It is we humans, who have drawn the seperation between ourselves, the spirit world, and GOD the pure devine. ...just a thought~

Carry On,
